It was actually my husband who made the appointment as he was frustrated at the lack of improvement in my health - I was totally exhausted all the time and this had been going on for ages with no improvement. I must admit I was really skeptical when I went to visit Lorna - I just couldn't imagine what she could do to help the situation.
We covered a lot of ground in that initial consultation and I started on a new dietary plan which omitted some foods I had been previously eating. I didn't find the diet too hard and started to reap the benefits gradually. I was also put on a supplement regime to add in nutrients I had become seriously deficient in.
It did take time before I started to feel like the 'old me' but I have never looked back. My friends and family all comment on how much better I look and I feel and many of them have now also visited Lorna, on my recommendation!
When Jean came to see me she was extremely worried about her health. She had been diagnosed as diabetic in 1997 and would often have hypoglycaemic episodes. She was overweight and very low in energy. She was also concerned because lately her stools had been floating and very fatty. On discussion with her doctor, followed by some testing, it was discovered her liver function was poor. Jean was taking a number of medicines. A close friend who had been successfully treated by me recommended Jean had a nutritional appointment.
Tests showed Jean to be lactose intolerant and this had been creating stomach problems for which she was also medicated. I explained how her diet of high glycaemic carbohydrates was making her blood sugar levels too high. This was also creating a lot of infections and she had also been taking steroids.
Jean made many changes to her diet coming off milk and eating only low glycaemic carbohydrates in moderation. She is now a good body weight having lost 2 and a half stones and has plenty of energy. She is now off insulin altogether from injecting up to 16 units daily. She takes milkthistle for her liver and a supplement for her bone health. Since this time Jean has sent many of her friends to see me and wants to help raise the profile of the benefits of good nutrition in any way she can.
I consulted Lorna in 2007 about a persistant skin problem - a fungal infection behind my ears and under the hairline at the back of my neck which the doctor's prescription had failed to clear. It was both unsightly and very itchy! After tests and discussion on diet, she recommended that I cut out all foods containing yeast for a period and made other helpful suggestions about my diet with particular regard to my Type 1 Diabetes. I also embarked upon a course of high quality probiotics to address longstanding imbalances. It worked and after a number of weeks I was again able to eat foods containing yeast without any recurrence of the problem! I wholeheartedly recommend a consultation with her about any health or dietary problem.
I consulted Lorna a few years ago as I had very itchy inflamed hands - and have continued to see her when I have any health problems. I had tried a cream from the doctor and it never really helped. I could also flare up with a rash on other parts of my body, particularly my neck. This was incredibly itchy and also unsightly and had been going on for some considerable time. She diagnosed an allergy to salicylates, a food group which can also cause asthma, ADHD, general aches and pains and diarrhoea. There are salicylates in many foods e.g. mint and tomatoes! I also gave up dairy products and citrus food. I do my best to avoid problem foods and my rash now only reappears when I eat out and someone slips in a food I cannot cope with.
I cannot thank Lorna enough for her help and expertise. She is also supplying me with a couple of supplements which I take to maximise my health and has put me onto a source of natural body products which I also use regularly.
I had been slowly and gradually putting weight on for years. From being quite slim when I left school seven years later I was obese and not very happy about that. I did not really know what to do as my mum cooks for me and makes my packed lunch. I am quite plain in what I eat and do not really like fancy or really unusual foods. Lorna is my employers partner and she offered me her help which I gratefully accepted.
She pointed out that I was not having my, 5 a day, fruit and veggies and that these foods contain some very important vitamins and minerals. The fibre my body also needs was not in my current diet. She took my blood pressure and it was really high for a lad my age. This was the scary bit as I did not fancy having to take drugs for my life or having a heart attack. That really made me take things seriously.
I am now 3 stones lighter and still need to lose 2 more to reach my target. It has not been too hard to lose and I am now feeling so much better. My blood pressure is now ok and everyone notices that my skin is also better. Thanks for that
